Draper Expert PPW650 Review
Along with a great product you are buying from a well known and trusted brand that has been in the business of building quality tools for many years. The experience they have built up has culminated in some brilliant cleaning tools and great customer care.
If you are the owner of a large vehicle or boat this could be the ideal pressure washer for you. Cleaning a boat means that from time to time you may need to get to the hull on a pebbly or rough surface when the boat is out of the water, the Draper PPW650 has large wheels to make moving it around bumpy surfaces nice and easy. When you need to lift it up onto the deck you are going to need to make sure it is not too heavy pass up. The light weight frame on this model makes that possible. It is still a weighty piece of kit at 30kg but manageable compared to some of the more industrial petrol pressure washers.
In terms of value for money, we have to say there are cheaper models on the market that deliver a very similar spec for less money. The very popular wolf 6.5hp model can be found at a significantly lower price than the draper on may websites and delivers virtually the same flow rate, pressure and motor power. With the Draper you are paying for a quality brand.
Expert PPW650 Features
Below we will look in a bit of detail about the features this model has to offer.
Motor
A 6.5hp engine is more than powerful enough to deliver substantial pressure and some very high pressure peaks when needed. This is an improvement on the 77593 model, moving from 5.5hp up to 6.5hp which allows this model to tackle some harder cleaning jobs.
Hose
An 8 metre hose is supplied as part of the package. This is brilliant for most jobs and will allow you to climb up a ladder for higher jobs and also sneak into tiny gaps to get at awkward corners. For many areas including big patios an 8 metre hose will allow you to place the pressure washer in the centre of the area that needs cleaning and not have to move it at all.
7.9 Litre Flow Rate
Producing 7.9 litres flow rate per minute is ample to rinse well while cleaning. Really important as areas that are being cleaned need to be rinsed as well as have the pressure to tackle the difficult dirt. Compared to the Wolf 6.5hp model this is about the same flow rate.
Max Cleaning Pressure 2700psi
The maximum cleaning pressure you can work at is 2700 psi for short bursts for the toughest grime and a very respectable 2400psi as a working pressure that can be used for long periods of time. There are not a great deal of jobs that require more pressure but make sure you make think about the cleaning tasks you need to tackle before buying any model.
Built In Detergent Bottle
A handy feature letting fill the detergent bottle up before you wheel it to a job. It saves you having to carry a big bottle of detergent around whilst trying to move the washer at the same time. A real time saver if fill up the petrol and detergent at the same time as you shouldn’t really need to carry anything else.
Mains Or Barrel Fed
Water can be supplied from a mains tap or from an external water source like a barrel. Just beware that a barrel feed will need to have enough pressure to supply the required amount of water.
Storage
A really nice feature on this Draper petrol pressure washer is the fold down handle. If you are short on storage space this is brilliant. The handle folds down so that it can be stored as a compact unit rather than having a high awkward handle that needs to be squeezed into a corner.
Mobility
The chunky frame and large wheels are pretty standard for this level of pressure washer. They make moving from job to job easy and will stand up to bumping around. Weighing in at 30kg is light enough to move around, still pretty heavy compared to a lot of general tools but for a petrol pressure washer it’s not too bad.
What’s in the box
As well as the pressure washer itself the PPW650 comes with all of the accessories you need to get you working straight away:
- 5 Nozzles for different angles and power.
- 8 meter hose.
- Fuel funnel.
Final Thoughts
I have to say this is a well build product from a well known and respected brand. If you are the sort of person that likes to buy from a well established company then I think this is a great all rounder that will serve you well for money years. However, there are a number of models on the market from the likes of Wilks USA and Wolf that offer a great product at fantastic value. really the decision comes down to the brand you like and trust.
