The top ranked offering from Draper is this impressive unit – the PPW650 petrol pressure washer. Our full review updates the former edition, the 77593 from a few years back. While its predecessor was powerful, this model packs more of a punch, delivering 6.5 hp output to get stuck in to your cleaning challenges.
The price of this model is what keeps it from being more attractive though – unless you get a great discount your money would be better spent on one of the above models, rather than paying for the Draper name.

We all could do with a pressure washer from time to time, whether that’s needing to clean up the outside areas of decking and patio, vehicles needing a wash, or the driveway is needing attention. Often the cheaper electric versions that are available are just not up to the job, and tether you to the nearest power outlet which isn’t ideal. You can end up throwing them away as they just don’t kick out the sort of power you need to get the areas that need cleaning looking great. The other option you have is to hire one to get these jobs done but the reality of the situation is that you will need it a few times a year. When you add up that cost you are going to be far better off buying one to get the full power and cordless freedom they offer.
So that brings you to the big question. What do I need? Well, you are going to need a petrol powered pressure washer that will give you high pressure and good performance for many years to come. The petrol motors vary in size and power, giving you a good range of petrol powered choices. They go from the powerful domestic pressure washers to the super powerful 4000psi jet washers that are built to withstand the heaviest of workloads and combat the toughest dirt around. These industrial washers are often overlooked for home use, but if you see one in your price range, they may be worth considering.
Another consideration is the brand you choose, so let’s talk a little more about those next.
Top Pressure Washer Brands
There are a huge number of companies that make pressure washers, but only a handful of them are really worth considering, and that will normally come down to either price or quality for most buyers. In other words, some people will have a limited budget and others will have a particular task in mind, possibly one needing some serious power.
Different pressure washer brands tend to target different sectors within the market, so here’s a few to get you started, along with links where available to our petrol pressure washer UK reviews.
Wolf
A staple of our top ten for several years now, Wolf’s range are particularly popular because they’ve managed to hit the sweet spot between price, quality and power. They’re not the cheapest, or the most powerful on the market, but they do offer superb value and pack quite a punch for all your cleaning needs. We wouldn’t recommend going out and looking specifically for a cheap petrol pressure washer, as you are likely to fall into buying a lower quality option. That’s why we throw our weight behind Wolf jet washers – they offer good reliability and quality at a very competitive price.
You can read more in our Wolf petrol pressure washer reviews section.
Hyundai
Hyundai are a well known brand, but often more associated with cars. When you think about it, it makes a lot of sense as we’re talking about another motorised product here, so Hyundai’s experience from the automotive world comes through and they’ve produced some of the most popular pressure washers.
Here are our Hyundai pressure washer reviews.
Parkside
Parkside have been a relative unknown until recently, when they scored a great promotion with Lidl. Buying a Lidl pressure washer might not be something that immediately springs to mind when you need one, but the famous discount stores (like Lidl, Aldi, The Range, B&M, Home Bargains and so on) are known for their middle aisles where you can find almost anything if you fall lucky with your visit. Of course, by the time you’re reading this, you may well find that the Lidl deal is a distant memory, but you’re likely to be able to find one on the internet for a decent price.
Parker
Parker, from Louth in Lincolnshire, have created an affordable contender in the petrol or diesel pressure washing market. One of their popular models weighs in at around the £200 mark, and delivers a 2900PSI jet. It’s certainly worth a look at these Parker jet wash models, but they’re not ones that have made our top 10 above.
Wurzburg
Wurzburg are a German brand of pressure washer, offering a petrol fuelled option delivering a 3000 PSI output. They’re not very common to find in the UK so we don’t cover them on the site, but worth knowing about if you’re looking for something a little different. There’s plenty of different brands offering a high pressure jet washer for sale.
Kiam
Liverpool based Kiam Power Products are suppliers of many heavy duty motor driven items, including jet washers and carpet cleaners.
While you’re unlikely to have heard of them unless you’re in the trade or clued up about the industry, they do offer a number of competitively priced high powered units.
While our top ten above doesn’t include them, a Kiam pressure washer might be worth a quick look if you want to shop around.
Neilson
Neilson are more commonly associated with hand tools like spanner sets and more specialist tools, but from time to time you’ll also find them branching out into bigger areas, including pressure washers.
When available, they offer some decent power options, and for competitive pricing. While they’re not always found in stock on Amazon, typically there are a few if you hunt through the listings on eBay. Our recommendation would be to stick with the top picks in the table above, but this gives you another dimension to consider.
Macallister
You’ll often see Macallister tools in places like B&Q, and one of the lesser known ranges they offer are pressure washers. Their most popular and widely available models are electric, however they do also offer a handful of petrol powered ones too, including the 2500W 18 BAR model, which is available at Trade Point at the time of writing.
Clarke
Finally, let’s round things off by giving Clarke pressure washers a mention. You’ll frequently see Clarke petrol jet wash models featured in the pages of Machine Mart brochures, especially in the ones that drop through the door when they’re on sale.
They’re a great buy, and also often available on Amazon. If you’re not sure about the ones on offer above in our recommendations, Clarke machines are a decent bet too.
Where To Buy Pressure Washers
As you might have noticed in our reviews, we’re big Amazon fans here at petrolpressurewashers.com! Just like in 2017 and 2018, we’ve updated our recommendations for 2024.
As we disclose on every page, we do get a commission if you click over and buy something but that’s not the main reason. We could get a similar arrangement elsewhere, but the fact is Amazon are just very good at what they do!
You can almost always buy at one of the best prices around, and they’re often able to deliver to your door the very next day. If you’re a member of their Prime service, that may even mean it’s free next day delivery too on top of a great price! Even if not, you can usually arrive fast delivery on your pressure washer for a small fee.
That said, it’s important to recognise that Amazon are far from the only place to buy your pressure washer. In a moment we’ll look at a few more options, which we’re not necessarily recommending – just giving you a little help if you want a bit more choice. We’re also talking about buying the machines themselves. Spare parts and consumables may also be sold in these outlets, but generally spares can be sourced from the manufacturers if you need them.
Lidl
A few paragraphs back, we talked about the Parkside pressure washer than was on sale at Lidl. As you might expect, these deals come and go, but the good news is that when you do find one, a Lidl pressure washer purchase tends to offer amazing value. Obviously, without knowing the make and model we can’t tell you much about the quality, but you’d hope that Lidl themselves would have done some research before putting them on the shelves!
Aldi
Just like Lidl, Aldi have been known to offer these at great prices on occasion. The deals on petrol pressure washers Aldi offer will likely be short lived, as it’s not a common thing to see in stock in their stores, so if you do fall on one, don’t wait too long as you might miss out. Of course, feel free to check out the reviews on our site as you might learn a bit more about what you’re buying, and possibly even find it cheaper still on Amazon.
eBay
You could be forgiven for thinking that eBay jet washer were used, second hand pressure washers, but actually many of their listings are actually new and boxed products. You’ll need to check the listings carefully, and of course there are no guarantees that a given seller will accurately produce their eBay jet wash advert. They key here is to check your delivery carefully. It’s not our preferred choice, but another option for you if you’re struggling to find what you need.
Argos
You won’t find many (if any) petrol powered washers in the Argos catalogue or online at their website. They do however sell electric pressure washers like Karcher if you really need one in a hurry and can accept the sacrifice on power and portability. Think carefully about the places you’ll be using it, and if there’s always a power outlet available, you’ll be able to use one and buying an Argos pressure washer might be up to the job.
Screwfix
Even if you’re a consumer, you can head to your nearest Screwfix store, although a lot of people seem to assume it’s for trade customers only. You’re likely to be able to pick up a decent model today from the Screwfix pressure washer range, although the prices are likely to be higher than the links to Amazon we provide on our reviews. It’s worth double checking though if you need one fast.
B&Q
B&Q can be a little seasonal in their stock, especially in their smaller stores. Like Argos, they tend to stock electric powered machines only most of the time, although there have been times where they have some powerful petrol models too.
Toolstation
Like many other ‘real world’ shops, Toolstation seem to have a limited range of petrol pressure washers, however they often have one or two in stock. For example, right now as this is written they’ve got a couple of SIP Tempest models available, one high powered 4 stroke engine, and a lesser 149cc alternative. As we’ve said before, in stock models give a solution when you need a fast purchase and can’t wait for delivery, but if you can allow 24 hours, Amazon will likely give you more choice at a great price.
Ten Uses For A Petrol Pressure Washer
Now that you are on this site you probably realise that you need a petrol powered jet washer for certain jobs. Below we are going to give you ten uses for your petrol pressure washer that you may not have even though about. You may find that actually you could use it many times over and potentially save yourself a lot of money, time and effort on plenty of jobs around the house.
Cleaning The Car
A lot of us go to the hand car wash to get our cars washed on a regular basis, sometimes weekly. There is no doubt about it, they do a great job in a very quick time and you don’t have to lift a finger. If you were going to wash your car at home by hand it would take ages and you can never get it properly clean under the wheel arches and around the tyres.
With a decent high power washer you can clean you car very quickly and thoroughly, saving yourself a lot of money and effort. If you think you spend £5 per week then this adds up to over £250 in a year. You can quickly blast out all of the tough to remove grime from the wheel arches and remove most of the dirt before you whip over the car with a sponge then rinse it down once more. You don’t need to buy super powerful 4000 psi versions for this – a even a small jet wash such as a 2400 psi cordless model will be fine. Easily done, quick and another use for your diesel pressure washer.
This is one of the popular reasons to buy a petrol power washer, and saves you from searching for a petrol station with jet wash facilities.
Off Road Motorcycles
If you ride a motorcycle off road you will know just how muddy they get and what a mess it can make of your garage or your vehicle.
Once a few big chunks of mud have been dropped in the vehicle, the interior is ruined. It will break down into dust which is so difficult to remove that it becomes a nightmare to deal with. Often, the areas that you will ride in are remote with no bike wash or mains water or electric.
The answer to this is a high pressure jet that will run off a tank. The pump can draw the water from a tank in your van and keep the motorcycle spotless in minutes before you load it into the vehicle. This will keep your vehicle in great condition and stop you taking all of the thick mud home. Most petrol power washers are easy to manoeuvre in and out of a van. For this job, the 2000 to 3000psi models are perfect.
Preparing An External Wall To Paint
If your external walls are looking a bit dirty and need a lift then the answer is to repaint them and get them looking like new.
The first thing you need to do is to prepare them so that the paint goes on well and the finish looks good. A pressure washer petrol powers is perfect for the job, removing all of the dirt and the grime plus also removing any old loose paint work ready for painting.
Once it is done you let it dry and you are ready to paint. You may be surprised at the results once you get started and find that a good clean was all it needed in the first place!
Depending on how large the area is that you need to clean and what sort of dirt is on the walls will determine how powerful a pressure washer you need.
For an outside wall of your home that needs brightening up a bit, a 2000 to 3000 psi cleaner will be fine but if it is a factory wall that has all sorts of grease and grime build up from years of use you may need the big systems like the 4000 psi petrol power washers for sale.
Cleaning Patios
Some houses with old patios look pretty bad, if you did not put the patio down and have acquired the house it is often tough to see what colour the original patio stone actually is!
A pressure washer will blast through this build up of dirt and slime that has turned the patio into a sea of grey that looks terrible.
With a turbo nozzle to get the most pressure in one spot the stone will come up looking like new in no time at all and you will be absolutely amazed at what it looks like. Often after a good blast it can look like new!
The size of the pressure washer you need for this will depend on the size and the type of grime that is on the patio, for most jobs a 2000 to 3000 psi petrol driven model will do the trick with no problem. You can also get similar effects with a rotary flat surface cleaner, but pressure washers are suitable for a more versatile range of jobs. Therefore even for block paving and other hard surfaces, a high powered jet washer is ideal.
Cleaning Decking
For any owners of wooden decking you will know that during the winter it will turn into a lethal ice skating rink that is dangerous to walk on. The algae builds up on the wood creating an invisible layer on top of the decking.
A good clean down once or twice a year with a petrol jetwash will cure this problem with minimal effort. The pressure washer will cut through that slippery layer with ease making it a safe and nice looking area to sit in. You will find that the more shaded the decking is the more it will need cleaning. Like the patio, a 2000 to 3000 psi cleaner will take care of this easily.
Graffiti Removal
If you are in the unfortunate position that you need to remove some graffiti from a wall on your property then a high quality, high power jet washer will do the job.
Bear in mind that it may also damage the paint that is on the wall underneath as well. A really high power pressure washer is going to be needed for this job so the 4000 psi plus models will do the trick.
You will need a nozzle that really concentrates the spray on one area and then blast away until it is gone. When using a pressure as high as this it is worth testing it first on an area that doesn’t matter before ploughing into a large wall.
Garden Woodwork
By giving the woodwork in the garden a clean with pressure washer it will stay looking as good as new for years on end and get rid of some of the damaging algae and other grime that might be bad for the wood over time.
Fencing and garden furniture can often dull down over a couple of years and look really old in your prized garden. By yearly cleaning, you will stop this happening and you will be able to see the grain and colour of the wood like the day it was put up.
When the sun is shining, the garden can look great if the woodwork is looking good and add plenty of colour to the garden. The 2000 to 3000 psi petrol pressure washers will do this with no problem, if the fencing area is very large than you may need a bigger washer but for the home it should be adequate.
Vehicle Fleet Owners
For owners of fleet vehicles it can be an expensive business having them valeted on a regular basis. You need a good power pressure washer that will blast away all of the dirt in an instant, saving you time and money. This is more of a commercial pressure washers example than some of the previous ones, demonstrating how some of the models sold by domestic retailers are also suitable for an industrial or commercial environment.
An electric alternative will not have the pressure to get all of the road dirt off the vehicles and it won’t be able to run for long enough periods if you have a few vehicles to clean. The size of the fleet will determine what size machine you need but for large fleets where pressure washers are in constant use I would go for the more powerful models and lower the pressure output a bit so you don’t damage the paint.
Cleaning Workshops
If you have a workshop or garage that gets covered in dirt and oil through a lot of use, then a professional jet washer will be an important cleaning aid to stay on top of the dirt. Engineering work can get very messy with some of the hardest things to shift so a very powerful washer will be needed to cut through the grease and oil.
You will be surprised just how clean it will come up and regular cleaning will mean the job is quick and easy to stay on top of. Again the size of the area is important when looking at which model to buy but the 4000psi options will shift most things in their way!
Agricultural Use
Every bit of a farm gets ridiculously dirty with the mess from animals, tons of mud and other bits of stuff that end up creating a massive mess that is hard to shift. The machinery and tools get clogged up with dirt and the tanks for fluids often need cleaning.
Continuing on the commercial jet wash theme, in this case it is worth investing in the top end powerful 4000psi plus models. You will be up against some tough cleaning jobs that need to be done quickly and some things will be very hard to shift. By adjusting the pressure for different jobs you will have a diesel jet washer that will be able to tackle all jobs and will save a lot of time.
As you can see, petrol pressure washers have a ton of uses and there are far more than this ten. I hope this helps you to realise just how handy a tool it can be!
